Igster's Inklings

The title of this post comes from Get Together by the Youngbloods. You can see the lyrics here . This is a quick, but cool song. I’ve liked it since I was a kid. How long is that? Umm not gonna tell you.But I can recall them playing this on the radio before it was an “oldie”.

I don’t want this idea to die off. Far too many people in this country are homeless. Just look around with new eyes, you’ll find them. While I agree that the situation in so called third world countries is deplorable, it bothers me that there are few organizations that deal with the domestic equivalent.

Sure there are some, but not many with the same exposure as those others seem to have. We have kids here going to bed hungry, those lucky enough to have beds anyway. We have thousands in shelters(when they can find them) sleeping on subway grates,in doorways and abandoned buildings. Some sleep in cars, until the local constabulary comes along and makes them move or worse, arrests them.

I am in no way an expert on this. Nor do I know what to do or how to go about helping. So, I am calling upon you, my brilliant readers to comment here. Let us brain storm together. Every little bit helps, even if you can’t see an immediate result to your actions. If you can’t think of anything, talk to your friends, post a link to this blog post somewhere. Maybe someone else will read it. All it takes is one person to help out.
